Hypnosis derives from a Greek word meaning to put to sleep. Hypnosis refers to a state or condition in which the patient seems to follow instructions and suggestions in an uncritical, automatic fashion and attends closely only to those aspects of the environment made relevant by the hypnotherapist. Hypnotherapy differs from stage hypnosis. During the hypnotic state, the patient is always aware of what is going on. In contradistinction to one popular belief and misconception; no hypnotherapist can make his patient behave in a manner that is foreign to his/her basic nature. The patient remains in control throughout the entire therapy and at no point does he/she surrender his power to the therapist. Hypnotherapy is an induced state of consciousness in which patient responds to suggestion by the hypnotherapist for alterations in awareness, memory, perception, thinking and behavior. Hypnotherapy is a normal state that is useful in treating pain, fears, phobias, addictions, enhancing self-esteem, self-confidence, athletic excellence and training for health and prosperity. Hypnotherapy is a powerful, safe and effective technique to counteract stress and reinforce positive changes in life. Hypnosis is truly the painless way to exercise the power of the mind to gain control and achieve your goals.
